Terri Robb will light it up for Waterfront Wednesday on Sept. 4 at the Bargeway Pub. 6:30 p.m.
If you like blues electric guitar, you’ll like Terry Robb.
The Terry Robb Electric Trio hits the stage for Waterfront Wednesday, Sept. 4th.
In his career, Robb has toured with John Fahey, Buddy Guy, Steve Miller and Robin Trower, and shared the stage with B.B. King, Albert Lee, Joe Cocker, Bo Diddley, John Hiatt, David Crosby, George Thorogood, Leo Kottke, Johnny Winter and countless more all-stars.
He is according to ZZ Top guitarist frontman Billy Gibbons, the “Master of the Stratocaster.” When Gibbons is in Portland, he seeks out Robb's performances, according to the Mid-County Memo.
Robb was inducted into the Oregon Music Hall of Fame in 2009.
For more than 5 decades, Robb has been perfecting his craft relentlessly on stage and in the studio.
Robb wouldn't have it any other way, though.
“This is all I've ever done. I produce records and I teach. It's always been about music. I didn't choose to do this. This is just what I do.” he told the Mid-County Memo.

Double Mountain Block Party
Double Mountain Brewery in Hood River finally released the details of their upcoming Block Party on Saturday, Sept. 7. Proceeds from the Carnival Games benefit the HR Swim Team.
“We’re throwing a day full of fun, games, music, and delicious food, right in the heart of Hood River. Activities kick off at 2 PM and go all the way until 9 PM, but we’ll be open for business as usual starting at 11:30 a.m..

About the event
The Dalles Art Center is excited to present our interactive community project, School of Fish, on Sept. 7. This party is in conjunction with our 65th Anniversary celebration! There will be cake, snacks, speakers, youth artwork and a raffle of one of Andy Nichols' famous glass salmon.
Families can stop by with their salmon artwork to add to the installation throughout the party, or artwork can be dropped off anytime leading up to the event at the art center during business hours. Allow them to take you down a path of yesteryear with a good old fashioned sound inspired by the masters of bluegrass, and sprinkled with a few originals!

The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association Presents Concert and Dance for First Friday

A local fan favorite known for presenting high-energy, tuneful jazz, the band will transport audiences back to the roaring twenties. The program will include, among other music, a sizzling set of early Duke Ellington arrangements and classic Dixieland favorites.
While the jazz genre evolved during the early 20th century, by the 1920s it had become the predominant form of popular music in America. During the 1920s, jazz spread to Europe and many American performers went with it. The performance will feature classic Ellington compositions known for their innovative harmonies, infectious rhythms, and unforgettable melodies.
The CGOA Jazz Collective Big Band was founded in 2015 by then-director Mark Steighner.
Since 2022, the Big Band has been directed by Michael Paul. The Big Band is one of several CGOA ensembles, including the Gorge Sinfonietta and the Voci Community Choir. Join the Jazz Collective for an evening of sophisticated swing and timeless jazz as the musicians bring the spirit of the Jazz Age to life. The performance is part of Hood River’s First Fridays tradition and helps celebrate the 100th birthday of the historic Butler Building at 3rd and Oak Streets. Dancing is encouraged! The Columbia Gorge Orchestra Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and presenting musical performances of the highest quality in the Columbia River Gorge region. Aaron’s passion for the violin started at a young age, and he made his debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at just 11 years old. He later soloed with the Oregon Symphony, The Bangkok Symphony Orchestra in Thailand, and other symphony orchestras
The concert is a fundraiser for music education. All proceeds support the Aaron Meyer School of Concert Rock.

About the Event
“Never Too Old For War” tells the incredible true story about an old Army foot soldier named Bob Shano, a Vietnam-era veteran and a native-born New Yorker from the Bronx, who was compelled by the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks to return to the ranks. But what makes this book so unique is that Shano had previously served in the Army as an Infantryman, left the military back in 1986 and, after being out of the service for 16 years, signed back up when he was 50 years old to serve alongside a new generation of Infantry soldiers, ultimately completing three combat tours — two in Iraq and one in Afghanistan — before being mandatorily retired in June 2013 at age 62. Over the course of his eleven-year enlistment, Shano braved bullets, roadside bombs, rocket and mortar attacks, and some of the harshest environmental conditions on the planet as he served alongside his fellow Infantrymen — most of whom were 30 years younger than he was. The author talk will be followed by a book signing and drawing for a free copy of the book.

“The Portland based band Glitterfox has released five singles in just six months under their new record label Kill Rock Stars, with two more arriving this Spring. Essential Gala Fundraiser Splendor of the River
GOLDENDALE, Wash. — Maryhill Museum of Art is looking forward to seasons ahead as it plans for its 2024 Gala: Splendor of the River.
The event will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 7, at the museum’s Cannon Power Plaza overlooking the Columbia River. This is the museum’s largest fundraiser of the year, and it has a profound impact on programming and visitor experience. Proceeds from the gala enable the organization to continue its free and reduced admission program as well as its monthly educational and public programming.
The gala funds will make possible much-needed updates to the Indigenous Peoples of North America galleries. The museum plans to build cases for newly acquired pieces to the collection, upgrade case lighting and presentation, add educational media, and participate in voluntary repatriation of lithic stones to the Yakama Nation.
Proceeds will also facilitate the Maryhill Museum’s 2025 featured exhibition: People, Pastorals, and Natures Mortes, featuring European and American paintings from the 17th to 21st centuries.
“Not only does this event make the rest of the year possible for us, it is a wonderful way to spend an evening with people who value art and the work we’re doing here,” said Amy Behrens, Maryhill Museum of Art’s executive director. “Our supporters are priceless, and we love bringing them together in celebration and in support of a shared goal.”
Gala attendees will enjoy wine, hors d’oeuvres and dinner in a beautiful setting, while participating in a paddle raise, an auction of Maryhill Splendor, an oil painting by plein air artist Cathleen Rehfield, and engage in a raffle drawing for a vintage gold ring with over 5 carats of diamonds.

Jess Clemons’ experience as a traveler, former island dweller, and small town girl have influenced her folksy homegrown musical style. Raised in Vermont, she attended music school in Nova Scotia where she was a side and front woman for various bands, touring around Canada in the summers. A big leap took her to Nantucket, working as a gardener & musician, rowing to and from a houseboat she called home for several years. After finding Baja in 2010 and subsequently the wind-loving community of Hood River, Jess now calls the Gorge home. Playing guitar & piano on stages around the Northwest and in Baja in the winters, she has become known for her powerhouse vocals, intimate originals and tasteful covers of folks like Patty Griffin, Brandi Carlile and Lori Mckenna, all of whom she has been compared to. Frequenting festivals, house concerts and listening room, Jess has honed her craft as a story teller, singer, and entertainer.

On August 1,1947, the tragic crash of a B-25 bomber in Washington State triggered an FBI investigation of “The Maury Island Incident” — an infamous Northwest UFO sighting, and history’s first alleged encounter with the so-called “Men in Black.”
The FBI’s records from 1947, which were sealed for decades, reveal Cold War fears, jurisdictional disputes, cover-ups, false confessions, a courageous FBI Special Agent, and the hands-on involvement of FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover. Relying on the FBI records, this talk exposes a Washington story that shapes our current UFO narratives, from 1950’s pulp magazines to the ubiquitous X-Files and Men in Black film franchises. Also examined: how the Northwest’s unique position in UFO history is challenged by others that assert contradictory narratives.
Steve Edmiston (he/him) is a business and entertainment lawyer with Bracepoint Law, and an indie film screenwriter and producer. Edmiston has keynoted for the Pacific Northwest History Conference, Washington State Historical Museum, McMenamins History Pubs, film festivals, conferences, and business groups. He was the screenwriter and co-producer of “The Maury Island Incident,” a short film chronicling the true story of Harold Dahl and his alleged 1947 sighting of a UFO over Puget Sound. Edmiston lives in Des Moines.

In 2016 Jeff Chilton packed his trombone and guitar onto an Amtrak train out of Ithaca, NY to move west in search of a home and a band. Three years later Jay Si Proof was born in 2019 from the funky jazz soaked dirt of Portland, OR bringing their “silly and euphoric vibe” (Portland Mercury) up and down the west coast. Described as "earth jazz alchemists" by Vortex Magazine, the band is a true DIY project with 2 self produced EPs, an album, and a performance history including the Skyview Jazz Festival, McMenamins UFO Festival, Mojo Family Fest, and the Bend Falls Fest, and the Corvallis Falls Fest.

Whether you’ve only learned basic chords or are the next Earl Scruggs, come join the circle! All abilities and ages are welcome. Tony will lead the circle in some basic bluegrass standards, but all pickers are encouraged to bring a song or two or more to share! Bluegrass is the focus but any easy to explain and play roots-style tune is welcome (folk songs, country standards, etc.).

Red Shahan is a future American legend with potential to conquer the world, least his wife, three kids, and close friends know so. Born in bluff dale, Texas back sometime in the early eighties, red is an avid outdoorsman and dedicated Leatherman owner. He loves a good Pachanga and can do several jumping jacks in a row. He used to rodeo at western Texas college and got his start singing country songs in Lubbock, Texas. Heavily influenced by ac/dc and the indigo girls, his new songs and record sound nothing like them at all. Red is the real deal. In late 2019, Sea Caves released Across the Water and received glowing reviews and a dedicated fanbase in the Pacific Northwest. As momentum was building and they were set to embark on a West Coast tour, the pandemic brought a quick halt to their plans. During this time, as some relations frayed and others grew, Sydney Rohrs and Shiloh Halsey kept meeting at the park and writing songs, and a new album began to take shape. The result is a set of heartfelt songs colored with rich instrumentation, lush harmonies, and catchy melodies, all interwoven with Rohrs’ dreamy vocals and themes exploring the disconnection from community and family and the longing for things past and yet to be known.
The intricate guitar lines, dynamic bass playing, looping flutes, and soaring melodies we’ve come to know from Sea Caves shine through on the album.
Lincoln Crockett has been dedicated to his craft for many years, residing in the serene and picturesque Trout Lake, WA. The Portland based band Glitterfox has released five singles in just six months under their new record label Kill Rock Stars, with two more arriving this Spring. The band’s been growing steadily since “Drive” came out in August 2023, with their indie rock recipethat deftly balances Southern songwriting shine and nostalgia-fueled anthems.The four-piece band’s songwriters and front persons, married couple Solange Igoa andAndrea Walker, have always channeled their personal struggles as well as experiences as queer, neurodiverse individuals into their songwriting.Bassist Eric Stalker and drummer Blaine Heinonen bring a love of Americana, grunge,and dance music into the mix. All of these influences can be heard on the band’s latest singles, produced by Chris Funk of The Decemberists, and in their spirited live shows as they prepare for their full-length album debut in 2025.

Night Heron makes down tempo groovers that fall somewhere between Sade and Air. Their sophomore LP is due sometime in early 2025 but we may see some lead singles from them this summer.
Mega Cat is a disembodied multidimensional being most discernibly experienced as sound waves. It was first discovered in a basement home studio in the Central District of Seattle by audio chemists Aaron Benson (drums, percussion, guitar), Kim West (synthesizer, piano) and Ryan Devlin (bass, guitar.) Upon first encountering Mega Cat, all three researchers experienced a loss of time, body dissociation, euphoria, and ego death. Reports of holographic thought, enhanced perception, and minor instances of levitation have been widely documented from just one encounter with mega cat. Though the being doesn’t seem to use traditional language to communicate, Mega Cat transmits instrumental narratives that feel familiar to fans of 20th century science fiction, afro-beat, hip hop, and psychedelic music.
