Trivia Winner is a real Hum-Dinger; Lori Urban brings home $25 for tater tots

The Dalles, Ore., April 28, 2024 — Locals took a lot of swings this week at our trivia question about the name of this iconic burger joint in The Dalles.
But there could only be one Hum-Dinger!
Steven Baldwin noted the location of the restaurant was next to Mausers Lumber Co., then Lumbermans, and currently Tum-A-Lum at 240 Terminal Ave.
“The Humdinger with tater tots was my favorite,” said Eileen (Teas) Wilson.
“I liked the burger and fries,” said Dan Patton.
Dan, Eileen, and 9 others answered the question correctly by responding with the answer Hum-Dinger - the earliest iteration of the spelling.
Anne Huteson, Jo Ann Fisher, Lori Urban, Wendy Shoptaw, Steve Baldwin, Keith Flatt, Barb Stinson, Gary Bradford and a woman we only know as Wendy made it into our trivia top tier.
But alas there could be only one winner. The name drawn from the hat this week is Lori Urban!
Congratulation Lori! You’re the Hum-Dinger!

The Humdinger operated from the mid-60s to around 1972, John Foley said.
