Kiwanis meetings are held every Thursday at noon at Spooky’s and visitors are welcome. This month’s Kiwanis events include:
— May 2 Sarah Kellems from Mid-Columbia Community Action Council addresses the opening of the Gloria Center.
— May 9 Wildlife specialist Bill Weiler speaks passionately about fauna in the Gorge.
— May 16 The Col. Wright Elementary School marimba band brings music to Kiwanians.
— May 23 the club dedicates the Dick Rife memorial bench at Pioneer Cemetery on Scenic Drive.
— May 25 (Saturday) club holds work party at Kiwanis Pocket Park.
— May 30 (no noontime meeting) late afternoon club social.

Klickitat County Sheriff's Office Town Hall Meeting May 25
From Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office:
Klickitat County Sheriff Bob Songer will be holding a Town Hall Meeting on Saturday, May 25, 2024 from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. at the Goldendale Grange located at 228 East Darland in Goldendale, Washington.
We will be discussing the role of a County Sheriff and the pros and cons of County Commissioners Lori Zoller and Jacob Anderson closing down the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office Jail and contracting our inmates with Northern Oregon Regional Correctional Facility (NORCOR) in The Dalles, Oregon.
”I plan to start our Town Hall Meeting with a video that outlines the role and duties of the County Sheriff, followed by a discussion of the jail situation. In my Town Hall Meeting, the citizens attending will be allowed to verbally ask questions and make comments without their questions or comments being screened by a moderator.
My BOSS is YOU the citizens of Klickitat County, so I hope to see you at the Town Hall Meeting to hear your questions and comments on the above subject matter.

If you wish to speak during “Business from the Audience”, and you are attending the meeting in person, please sign up when you arrive at the meeting by printing your name, contact information and topic/item on the sheet provided by the City Recorder.
Submit written comments to the City Recorder at j.gray@cityofhoodriver.gov by Monday, April 8, 2024, no later than 12 noon in order to distribute to the City Council in one packet for review by 3pm. All comments will be added to the record.
To address Council during Business for the Audience by Zoom, send an email (name of speaker and topic) to j.gray@cityofhoodriver.gov by Monday, April 8, 2024, no later than 12 noon. Please specify the topic your testimony addresses. Testimony will go in order of requests received. Attendees that have pre-registered will be given a Zoom link. The speaker will be promoted by the City Recorder to address Council. Audio and video to be turned on for 3 minutes to address Council.
At the Mayors discretion, public comments may be received prior to a specific topic of relevance during the meeting. Please observe the time limit of three minutes/person
