Local TD resident is able to escape blaze of her own home, but much of it was destroyed after the fire broke out shortly after 1 a.m. on Sunday, May 21.
During the arraignment, additional details about Newman’s relationship with Cagle were revealed so that Wasco County Circuit Court Judge John Olson could decide on a bail amount to ensure that Newman would return to court and not flee from prosecution. Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis told the judge that Newman and Cagle met at Route 30 earlier this year and he provided her dinner, clothes, shopping and financial assistance.

Washington family seeks justice after finding strange circumstances surrounding the death of 29-year-old Alex Cagle who was found in a U-Haul rental pickup next to a combustion trash pump in a church parking lot in The Dalles on March 27. 60-year-old Joseph Carl Newman of The Dalles is now facing a second-degree manslaughter charge in connection with the death.
