Obituary: Eugene Walter Damm, 64, The Dalles
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Eugene Walter Damm, who passed away in The Dalles, Oregon, on April 15, 2026, at the age of 64.
Eugene was born on November 12, 1961, and lived a life marked by service, strength, and quiet dedication. He proudly served two terms in the United States Navy, reflecting his deep sense of duty and commitment. Over the years, he lived in many different places across the country, embracing change and new experiences along the way.
He was a man whose presence, guidance, and love shaped the lives of his family and friends in lasting and meaningful ways. Eugene had a creative spirit and a love for working with his hands—whether he was scuba diving, crafting with metal, or building something from wood, he found satisfaction in creating and exploring.
Eugene was there—steady, capable, and willing to help without hesitation. He was a man who never shirked a task and was always ready to lend a hand, an ear, or a word of advice to those in need.
Those who knew Eugene will remember the spark in him—a mischievous twinkle in his eye that appeared just before he told a joke or lovingly teased someone. It was a small but unforgettable part of who he was, and it brought laughter and warmth to the people around him.
Eugene's passing leaves an immeasurable loss, and we all will remember him for the life he lived and the love he gave. His strength, humor, and the memories he created will remain with us always.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Damm, his mother, Harriett Damm, and his son, Joshua Damm.
He will be deeply missed, always remembered and eternally loved.
He is survived by his children, Justin Damm (Jamie) and Benjamin Damm (Kateel), grand children Joshua Ducept and Chloe Damm, as well as six siblings, and many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward with love.
