Marilyn Brown, 99, died April 28, 2026, surrounded by family after a long and full life.

Born June 9, 1926, in La Grande, Oregon, Marilyn was raised by Forrest and Jane Scroggin on a farm in Union, Oregon. Her early years on the family farm helped shape a strong work ethic and a lifelong commitment to education and service.

Marilyn became an elementary school teacher, a profession she enjoyed throughout her career. Later in life, she moved to Hilo, Hawaii, before eventually returning to Oregon.

After returning to Oregon, Marilyn lived with her son, Steve King. Following his death, she spent the remainder of her years with her son, Tom King.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert King; her second husband, Charles Brown; her son, Steve King; and her extended family members.

She is survived by her son, Tom King; three nephews; one niece; four grandnieces; four grandnephews; three great-grandnephews; and three great-grandnieces.

Just 1 month and 12 days shy of her 100th birthday, Marilyn leaves behind a legacy of family, education and a life well lived. Those who knew her remember a woman who enjoyed a full and happy life and whose kindness touched many generations.
