Linda Susan Koskela

Linda Susan Koskela passed away on September 9, 2021, in Portland, Oregon. Linda was born on June 25, 1948, and was 73 years of age at the time of her passing.

Linda's father was Clarence Phillip Still, and her mother's name was Maybel Gertrude Holt, bother George Still, daughter, Alicia Bump and Grandkid, Sierra Weingold.

She was born and raised in Eureka, California growing up close to the Ocean, lived in Cascade Locks close to her daughter.

She loved the beach, taking care of others, cooking and travel.

She is dearly missed and cherished forever.

Richard Simons

Richard Simons passed away on September 3, 2021, in Hood River, Oregon. Richard was born April 24, 1963 and was 58 years of age at the time of his passing.

Richard aka Quazzi was born in Anaheim, California and has more recently lived in Hood River and Springfield, Oregon. On May 5, 1989, he married Tami Proebstel in Cascade Locks, Oregon. He worked in commercial printing.

Survivors included his wife, Tami Simons of Hood River, Oregon; children, Todd, JoAnna, Steven and Ashlea; grandchildren, Peyton, Zoe and Brantley; siblings, Don, Teresa & Peggy; parents (and step-parents), Don & Ruth Simons and Patricia & Scot Hansen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A time to celebrate Richard’s life and mourn his passing is planned for 3 pm, Saturday, September 25th, 2021 at the family home (1694 Tucker Road, Hood River, Oregon).

Obituary: Ann Christine (Curran) Perry

Ann Christine (Curran) Perry

Ann Christine (Curran) Perry was born on Christmas Day 1930 to Patrick and Margaret (Costello) Curran. She grew up in Noe Valley with her brother Patrick and sister Mary Ellen. She attended St James Grammar School, then went on to Immaculate Conception Academy for high school. While in high school she met the love of her life, Jim Perry, who later became her husband on April 15, 1949.

Ann attended St. Joseph College of Nursing and later worked at Mary's Help Hospital in San Francisco, where she worked until her children were born. Jim and Ann had three children, Christine, Jim, and Brian.

When her children were old enough, she returned to work as an insurance auditor for a labor union. Her knowledge of medical terminology became very useful for this type of work. She worked her way through the ranks until she became a national auditor for the Electrical Workers Union.

When they retired Ann and Jim moved to Hood River in 2000 and spent many wonderful years together with their son Jim and daughter-in-law Claudia who left the Bay Area in 1997.

Many wonderful years were spent enjoying family gatherings, local community events, and the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge.

Ann's husband passed away in 2016, but the years they had together in this scenic wonderland have definitely enriched both their lives. She is survived by her three children, 6 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Ann passed away on August 4th, 2021 at a care facility in The Dalles, Oregon.

Services are planned for 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 10th, 2021 at Anderson's Tribute Center (Funerals • Receptions • Cremations) 1401 Belmont Avenue, Hood River, Oregon 97031. A reception will follow and then Ann will be laid to rest at Idlewilde Mausoleum of Hood River, Oregon beside her husband, Jim.

Harley “Bud” Earl

Harley “Bud” Earl passed away peacefully on August 30, 2021, with family by his side at Mid-Columbia Medical Center of The Dalles, Oregon. He was 78 years of age at the time of his passing.

Bud started life in Florence, Oregon with his parents and sister, he grew up fishing, digging clams and exploring the sand dunes until he graduated high school. He then attended Oregon College of Education (OCE) in Monmouth, Oregon earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree. After college Bud became a Math (and occasionally, Geology) teacher, working his entire career as an educator at The Dalles High School.

Bud played a lot of pinochle with friends and family. He was especially fond of the fact that his granddaughter liked the game as much as he did. He also enjoyed whitewater rafting and driving his ’43 Willys Jeep, which he resorted with the help of a good friend and former colleague. Bud was an avid fisherman throughout his life, from the rivers and lakes of the Pacific Northwest to Alaska he was always ready to drop a line in the water. Preparing tax returns as an annual volunteer at the Senior Center brought him a lot of satisfaction. He was truly a teacher at heart. Every family vacation or road trip had an educational element; primary themes were usually the flora, fauna and geology of Oregon.

Bud is survived by his wife of 47 years, his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter.

According to Bud’s wishes, there will be no service and no memorial at this time.
