Your article entitled “CGCC Blood Drive Puts Light On Discrimination” shows a flawed understanding of what is actually news. You ran this essay at the top of your news page Nov. 23 as a news article, but it’s actually an opinion piece masquerading as a news story. It can’t even be called an editorial since it wasn’t written by the editorial staff. It reads like an English class essay by a college student. Please put this kind of stuff in the opinion section, and don’t foist it on your readers as news. I’m surprised that you have no mention of the District 21 school board meeting last Thursday where 150 community members turned out to protest the school board’s position on Covid-19 vaccines and in support of staff member Wayne Gibson who was fired by the school board with no public discussion or comment. During that meeting the board was served papers by community members who have filed a lawsuit against the district. The board also made policy changes that would allow them to conduct a meeting without any public comment. As far as I know, KODL Radio is the only news agency in the Gorge to report on that meeting. I don’t know if your omission is an oversight or a lack of intestinal fortitude. But tough, honest reporting is what many in this community want to see.
