Having been a former judge for 22 years and a former District Attorney, I have had the
opportunity to observe the performance of the two DA candidates. As such, I strongly support Sean
Kallery for District Attorney.
Ms. Rasmussen professes to be professional. However, as a judge, I had to warn her with a
contempt citation to stop playing Sudoku in court at counsel table. Such conduct is not a sign of
professionalism nor a sign of respect for the judicial system.
She also claims she is qualified because of her years working in the DA’s office. Years of
working at a job does not qualify anyone for an advancement. Only if one improves over the years
does it qualify. From my observation, that has not been the case.
Sean Kallery is a mature thinker, level headed and displays common sense, all major attributes
to being a good DA. Additionally, the DA needs to live in the county where he/she works. Sean
Kallery lives in Hood River. His opponent does not. The DA needs to be available 24/7 to be involved
and on the scene in homicide and major crime investigations. Sean Kallery will be able to fulfill that
role, his opponent will not be able to do so.
It is interesting that many of the very experienced and respected law enforcement officers
support Sean Kallery, even though they have worked with Ms. Rasmussen as a deputy DA. They know
and understand the qualities of a good DA.
I am voting for Sean Kallery for DA and I urge you to do the same.
