Joson Singh of The Dalles has opened his second Center Market at 1615 E. 12th Street, The Dalles after months of remodeling the former office space just west of Dry Hollow Road.

It is not the first time a grocery store has been located in this block. For years Dehart’s ran a successful grocery store in what is now MCMC Family Medicine.

To celebrate months of hard work, Singh said they will be holding a grand opening on Saturday, April 3rd from 6 a.m . to 9 p.m. The new mid-sized grocery store and hot deli will be offering free coffee, soda and food items throughout the day. There will also be a raffle.

The store began a soft opening on Wednesday, March 3, as they are putting together several new food and beverage offerings at the store within a menu of cook-to-order sandwiches.

The new store features fresh fruit and a juice bar.

For example, the store will feature fresh-squeezed juices such as apple and orange, fresh cold sandwiches, burgers and fries, and wraps.

And it’s not your usual fare. For example, you can order a Marsala Chicken Burger or a pastrami sandwich.  (See menu items in photos at bottom of story.)

“We’re trying some new things,” Singh said, of the deli and juice bar.

A ton of work has gone into the building, and it has fresh finishes throughout.

Standard favorites such as a quick bite to eat from the hot deii is also offered at the new store.

The remodel started back in November, but contractors were able to quickly bring the project to fruition.

The New Center Market also features many of the original items that have made their Walnut Street location so popular in West The Dalles. The store features a large beer case featuring a good variety of craft beers as well as macros. There is also 12-feet of linear floor space dedicated to a variety of wines. And the familiar hot deli with to-go items such as corndogs and burritos is also being offered.

And of course, there are groceries and household items such as shampoo and razors.

This is Singh’s third store in The Dalles. In addition to operating Center Market on Walnut Street, he also has the Sasquatch Smoke Shop & Vape Supply at 802 Chenowith St.

A well stocked beer case with micros and macros is a standard feature at Center Market.
