There is happiness in this food.
Babita, a native of Chandigarh, India said it is her latest move to bring authentic Indian Food to the Gorge.
The cart sits in the parking lot off of N. 2nd St. next to the green grass and picnic tables behind Ferment Brewing. The truck offers bites, veg and chicken biryani bowls, and veg and chicken rolls.
“The Love Is The Soul of this Place”
The biryani is made with fresh Indian spices and Basmati rice, and the rolls come with a mix of vegetables including bell peppers and onions.
And don’t forget those delectable bites of pastry full of veggies or chicken, a perfect appetizer.
Cook Abhi Shek will pour in the happiness, cardamom, turmeric, and cumin at the truck when Babita is not present.
“It’s a nice location,” Babita said of the Hood River site “There is not much traffic. Parking is no problem, and it’s easy to access for people visiting downtown Hood River.”
Kainth is opening her door on the cusp of the tourist and recreational season to share her finest flavors. The food truck is state-of-the-art built with clean diamond plate flooring and brand-new stainless steel appliances.
Kainth got her start some 15 months ago in the food truck industry. She was inspired to bring true Indian food to the Gorge, and her trucks have been met with large success thus far.
“Once I tasted Indian food here in Portland, I did not like it, and I thought I should bring Indian food here,” she said. “That’s what made me decide to open.”
Babita, is a whirlwind, supplying, managing, and cooking at multiple trucks.
She operates Amayahs Cafe Food cart and store in Biggs Junction, Tadka India Ka Food Cart and Shawarma Hutch at the Sixth Street Station in The Dalles and now Indian Bowl & Roll in Hood River.

“If you are traveling east on I-84 between the John Day and Deschutes, there is a new Indian food truck in Biggs Junction at the Highway 97 turnoff,” one customer commented on ifish.com “It is as good as any sitdown restaurant we have ever been.”
Babita said she feels embraced by her customers.
”I love the Gorge; I am blessed and people are so nice. Their love makes me do whatever I can do for them in a better way. That means providing food at places closer to where they live.”
