The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 30, 2025 — A new grocery and fried chicken takeout with 24-hour service called US Market is now operating in the former Allen’s Food Center site in the 9th Street shopping center in The Dalles, offering chicken tenders to a full-scale beer cave and all the groceries you might need in a pinch.
U.S. Market officially opened in early October after purchasing the property from Martin MF & Sons Inc. in 2024 and completing a full renovation.
The store now offers beer, groceries and a fresh lineup of Krispy Krunchy Chicken with a full menu of tenders, Cajun chicken sandwiches, fried chicken, wings and all the sides to go with it.

There are also fresh grab-and-go sandwiches and beverages right at the front entrance to the store across from a new soda fountain, coffee counter and Freezy station.
An extensive Beer Cave features a wide variety of craft brews, including locally made Freebridge Beer. Macro brews like Modelo and Coors Light share shelf space with ciders, teas and hard seltzers.
Wine and cocktail mixer selections
A tour of the store shows well-stocked grocery aisles and what the company calls a “Beverage Destination,” with a massive selection of energy drinks, sodas, juice and milk. Wine and cocktail mixers are also available for those looking to stock up before the weekend. There is even a small selection of auto supplies.
Long Way to the Top
The Sidhu Brothers first made their mark in our region with the TA Express truck stop partnership in Biggs Junction.
According to the U.S. Market website, the company began in 1998 in Silverton, Oregon, when brothers Lal and Don Sidhu opened their first store after years of working their way up through the convenience industry. The brothers arrived in America at 18 years old with $200 in their pockets and a goal of building a business that served customers with care and provided jobs in their communities.
They started with small roles—driving taxis, selling carpets and ice cream, and eventually working at Circle K convenience stores—before saving enough to purchase one of their own. That first Silverton store marked the beginning of what would become a growing regional chain.
US Market also has a location in the Hood River heights near Dutch Bros. Coffee.
Today, U.S. Market operates more than 40 convenience stores and gas stations across five states, along with travel centers, hotels, trucking operations and real-estate developments. The company says it now supports more than 500 jobs and credits its success to clean, well-run stores and employees who take pride in their work.
In Oregon, the Sidhu family and their partners also operate Biggs Petroleum LLC, which owns the TA Express truck stop west of Biggs Junction on the Biggs-Rufus Highway. The business continues to expand across the Northwest, with the new 516 E. Ninth Street location in The Dalles marking the latest chapter in the company’s Oregon-grown story.
