An argument apparently about auto parts on Tuesday, Feb. 28 in west The Dalles led to gunfire and a police chase that ended with a local man tazed, according to the Wasco County Sheriff’s log.
Deputies were called out to 1083 Irvine Street #B at 9:40 p.m. after dispatch received a complaint of a fight and a gunshot could be heard in the background, the log states.
Several people can be seen at site. And two men were in an argument at the location and one reported being maced and then hit in the head with the empty mace can.
Witnesses to the altercation said they could hear the shouting and then saw a man discharge a handgun in the air near the recreational vehicle at the location.
One of the people involved in the argument then got into a white Jeep and could be seen trying to leave but was blocked in by a pickup with a canopy.
According to the log several TD Police officers went in pursuit of the Jeep after it left the property and was seen driving the wrong way near Tum-A-Lum Lumber on Second Street at 9:55 p.m.
The log said the person in the car “bailed on foot” and “taser deployed at Gill Point S.”
It also notes that a firearm was recovered.
After being tased, Michael James Jr. Miles, 38, was taken to Mid-Columbia Medical Center before being transported to jail.
Deputies located a shell casing at the site of the shooting near the RV on Irvine but no one at the scene of the argument “wants to be a victim.”
