20-year-old Goldendale man Life Flighted in I-84 head on collision near The Dalles

The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 28, 2026 — A Goldendale man had to be extricated from his vehicle after an Aug. 26 crash on Interstate 84 near The Dalles that seriously injured him and blocked the freeway for about 2½ hours, according to an Oregon State Police log.

OSP troopers responded at about 4:36 p.m. to the westbound lanes of I-84 near milepost 87 for a multiple-vehicle crash involving a semi-truck.

According to the OSP log, a silver Scion xB driven by Raymond Bensley Holycross, 20, of Goldendale, had reportedly been driving recklessly before the crash. Police said the Scion became disabled and was blocking the interstate when the semi crashed into it head-on.

Holycross was trapped inside the Scion and had to be extricated before being flown by Life Flight to Oregon Health & Science University, according to OSP. His condition was not provided.

The semi was driven by Dmytro Molchanov, 26, of West Sacramento. OSP reported that Molchanov was not injured.

A 33-year-old Dallesport man was also listed in the OSP log as a victim in the crash. The log does not describe his injuries or detail his involvement.

OSP said possible charges against Hollycross of reckless driving and recklessly endangering another person are being referred to the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office for consideration. No conviction or formal charging decision is indicated in the log.

Wasco County sheriff’s deputies, The Dalles Police Department, Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene. All vehicles involved were disabled and required towing.
