3-car fire drives possible arson investigation in Port of The Dalles

Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue responded to a three-car fire in the Port of The Dalles early Monday morning, Sept. 29. The fire is being treated as suspicious as arson detectives are looking into the case.

The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 2, 2025 — Police and fire officials are investigating the burning of three vehicles in the parking lot of the Crates Building in the 3500 block of Klindt Drive after the vehicles suspiciously caught fire and were destroyed around 4:30 a.m. on Sept. 29.

Arson detectives with the Oregon State Police are assisting in the investigation, while The Dalles Police Department and Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue are also working on the case.

The fire caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage. A Ford pickup and two other vehicles were totaled in the blaze.

Police are not commenting further as the investigation continues.
