Pastor Tyler: Calls for help come from Southern Oregon

Good Morning Friends,

We have a chance to be a good neighbor in the next couple of weeks! Folks have lost everything in Southern Oregon due to wildfire and are asking for our help. The Quakers reached out to Gorge Ecumenical Ministries (GEM) this last week to see if we in the Gorge can help. Zion Lutheran Church will serve as a donations drop off location for The Dalles through next Thursday, October 15th. Riverside UCC and Bethel UCC are the drop-off locations for Hood River and White Salmon. Next weekend, The Dalles community member Tim Schechtel will drive all the donations down to the Quakers in Southern Oregon for distribution using a 15-foot U-Haul he has rented. 

Here are the needed items:

• Baby supplies (diapers, wipes, Pedialyte, shampoo, creams, medicine)

• First aid kits and supplies

• Flip flops (new)

• Gift cards (Fred Meyers, Target, gas)

• Household supplies (laundry detergent, dish soap, sponges, small flashlights, AA/AAA batteries, travel packs of tissues, toilet paper, paper towels)

• Hygiene supplies (Full-size shampoo/conditioner, shaving cream, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, razors, sanitary pads, hairbrushes)

• Luggage (new or gently used)

• Masks (KN95/N95, cloth, children's)

• New clothing (all ages: socks, underwear, t-shirts, long sleeve shirts, sweatshirts, pants, rain jackets)

• Pet food

• Sleeping bags, blankets, pillows, towels (new)
