A look at WAGAP's New Cooling Kits
Bingen, WA, July 12, 2023—Washington Gorge Action Programs is supplying cooling kits this summer to help people in need combat extremely hot weather. The cooling kits are replacing the emergency cooling shelter, which went unused in 2022. This year, Community Health Workers will reach out to homeless individuals and families, outdoor workers, seniors, and others who may be vulnerable to exposure to life-threatening high temperatures. Kits will also be available at WAGAP locations in Klickitat and Skamania counties.
The photo is a sample of items that may be in a cooling kit, such as water, a refillable water container, sunscreen, lip balm, a snack bar, a cooling cloth, and a handheld mist fan. Actual contents may vary by location and change over time, as they will depend on the availability of funding and supplies. Contact WAGAP at 509-493-2662 or info@wagap.org with any questions.
