Adventist Health quickly finds a path forward after windstorm criples Water’s Edge

The Dalles, Ore., Dec. 18, 2025 — Adventist Health Columbia Gorge plans to begin reopening several clinics displaced by storm damage at the Water’s Edge medical building, with many services expected to resume by Monday, Dec. 22, after staff and equipment were relocated to alternate sites.

“It’s been incredible to see how our community pulls together,” said Laurel Rogers, Adventist Communications Manager. “Our community partners have reached out to ask if we need space, and staff have been amazing. It’s the nature of our amazing town, honestly.”

The Water’s Edge building, located at 551 NE Lone Pine Blvd., sustained extensive damage during a powerful windstorm earlier this week, forcing the closure of multiple clinics. It is believed the fire suppression system piping broke when a massive gust tore at the building, causing immense water damage.

Hospital officials said phones are gradually coming back online, though high call volumes may require patients to call more than once. Established patients are encouraged to use the MyChart online patient portal to contact their care teams with questions or concerns.

Under current plans, Immediate Care services will resume Monday at the MCMC Family Medicine Clinic, 1620 E. 12th St., where providers will offer same-day appointments seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., excluding holidays. X-ray services will not be available at that location.

Internal Medicine providers will see patients who have already been notified at the MCMC Family Medicine Clinic during the shortened holiday week, with plans to more fully reopen at Columbia Crest, 1935 E. 19th St., beginning Monday, Dec. 29.

Cardiology services through Northwest Heart Center are expected to resume Monday at Nichols Landing, 33 Nichols Parkway in Hood River. Patients scheduled for echocardiograms are being contacted individually with updated appointment times and locations. Orthopedics providers also plan to begin seeing patients at Nichols Landing starting Monday.

Sleep Medicine visits will continue virtually for the next several weeks, while decisions regarding the reopening of overnight sleep studies are still being determined.

Rehabilitation services, including physical and occupational therapy, are relocating to the main hospital with a limited reopening planned for Monday for postoperative and urgent patients. The reopening timeline for cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation has not yet been finalized. Plans for the relocation and reopening of ENT services are still under review.

Jayme Thompson

“We are incredibly grateful to our patients and community for their support and patience as we expedite our return to providing the care they’ve come to expect and trust,” said Jayme Thompson, administrator for Adventist Health Columbia Gorge. Thompson also thanked partners across the Adventist Health network, including Adventist Health Portland and Adventist Health Tillamook, as well as local community partners who offered support and clinical space.

Officials said the owner of the Water’s Edge building is continuing to assess the extent of the damage and determine a repair timeline. A date for reopening the facility has not been set.
