Antelope Creek Fire Burns 380 Acres in South Wasco County

Antelope, OR July 20, 2023– A wind-driven wildfire broke out on the south side of Highway 293 and OR-218 near Antelope, Oregon yesterday, prompting an immediate response from multiple agencies. As of 5:30 pm yesterday, the fire has consumed approximately 380 acres. Authorities are working tirelessly to contain its spread and said that the fire’s progression has been stopped.
Antelope has been downgraded to a Level 1, GET READY, evacuation notice.
Responding agencies include the Antelope Fire Department, BLM Fire, Jefferson County Fire, and Redmond Fire, with the latter currently assuming command of firefighting efforts. Additional support has been dispatched to the scene, including resources identified as BC-5124, AA-601, E-5628, E-5626, H-205PT, E-5422, and E619.
Air support has been pivotal in battling the fire, with several tankers dispatched to drop fire retardant. However, communication service limitations in South Wasco County have hindered real-time updates on the situation. Authorities are working diligently to provide accurate and timely information to the affected community.
