The Dalles Ore., May 16, 2024 — The Dalles High School held a signing day ceremony for Senior Anthony Jara, on May 14th, at 3 p.m. to celebrate the continuation of his education and his football career at Eastern Oregon University.

He played two positions fro the Riverhawks this year — wide receiver and defensive back.

He’s an interceptor receptor! Hands, baby, hands! And some juke to boot!

When asked how it felt to be signed into the school Jara said “It's good; I’m proud of myself, and I feel accomplished.”

Jara said that he is looking forward to playing football and wants to study Engineering or Criminal Justice. “Those are the two I’ve done the most research on,” he said.

When asked what he was most looking forward to, Jara said “A lot. I can’t wait to see La Grande; I heard it’s just like The Dalles, so I think I’ll just fit right in.”

Jara’s family, including his father Carlos, mother Karla, and sisters Karly and Nivia all showed up to support and celebrate Anthony’s accomplishments.

“It’s exciting to have your firstborn in a university coming from a minority background” said Jara’s father. “He’s been playing football since he was a kid. He has a great work ethic, and that’s what makes him stand out.”

Friends, coaches, and teachers were also present to celebrate his accomplishments.
