The Suitor By Edouard Vuillard, French Painter, 1868-1940

Kerry Cobb’s April Art News features authors Margaret Atwood, Timothy Egan, the art of Edourd Vuillard, and even the music of Brenda Lee, Jerry Vale and Nat King Cole.

In the painting above, Vuillard painted domestic scenes that are famous for depicting a sense of time and place that puts the viewer almost voyeuristically into the painted setting. He is also admired for developing a strong 2-dimensionality in his paintings, blending his painted subjects with the colors and patterns of the background art.
