Anselmo Arzeta Hernandez Pleads Guilty to Mulitple Sex Crimes

Anselmo Arzeta Hernandez Pleads Guilty to Mulitple Sex Crimes

From the Wasco County District Attorney’s Office:

The Dalles, Ore., October 20, 2023– Today, Oct 20, Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis announced that 41-year-old Anselmo Arzeta received a seventeen (17) year prison sentence after pleading guilty to one count of Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, one count of Sodomy in the First Degree, and one count of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree.

Arzeta pled guilty from NORCOR on October 20, 2023 and sentenced the same day.

By pleading guilty, Arzeta admitted to multiple acts of sexual abuse on a child over a prolonged period of time. That victim came forward, and notified the authorities of the abuse. The brave actions of the child in coming forward, and working with law enforcement, are the reasons the state was able to obtain a favorable outcome.

The victim’s family stated they are relieved to be able to heal, move forward with their lives and never think of the defendant again as they no longer carry the guilt and shame of what he did.

Ms. Davis noted, “I asked for a murder length sentence to represent the childhood that he murdered for this child.”

The district attorney’s office would like to give particular recognition to the child, The Dalles City Police, and particularly Sergeant Koji Nagamatsu and Detective Sergeant Austin Ell.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court placed Arzeta on 60 months of post-prison supervision. If he violates conditions put in place by his post-prison supervisor after his release from prison, he could receive further sanctions in the future. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

This case was settled by Special Deputy District Attorney Kara Davis.

No additional information is available for release at this time.
