Benched but Brainstorming: Tell the City Your 2021 Goals for The City of The Dalles
Today Mark Adams, of Underwood and Max Butensky, of The Dalles beautification committee were hoping to get to sit down and eat lunch together at Kainos in downtown The Dalles. However because of coronavirus they found themselves benched outside eating their lunch in the cold. This didn’t seem to dampen their spirits though. Both agreed on the importance to supporting local businesses and we’re happy to be eating lunch together and be well fed.
As they sat in front of one of several empty buildings on the downtown strip, their minds were focused on city beautification and economic development.
The two men and CCC News spent a good amount of time talking about what it might take to take our community from surviving to thriving. Historical mandates about downtown, a lack of housing/living wage jobs, and colonial attitudes we’re just a few topics which came up.
Everyone wants to see the town thrive, so how do we do it?
Well, while the ideas were flying left and right… We decided that educating ourselves, being open to looking towards the future, brainstorming, communicating, and working together seems like a good place to start. So we want to know:

Not sure where to start? Need some inspiration?
Well maybe a good place to start is asking: what makes our city beautiful, what do you want to see more of and what needs fixing?
