Big Wheel Keep on Turnin' - crews ready TD for weekend crush

Julien Whitney, 23, of Yakama was up and at ‘em this morning, April 21, setting the stage for Rainier Amusements carnival on First Street downtown The Dalles. The carnival will be running Friday through Sunday for Cherry Fest.

Whitney said he loved working the game line at the carnival.

“I like meeting all these friendly people. There are so many interesting people in all the towns we travel too.”

Rainier Amusements just came off of shows in Yakama and Grainger in Washington.

“I love The Dalles. I usually come down in the summer when the cherries are ripe,” Whitney said.

So, when fresh cherries are not available what to do?

“I went to Route 30 last night and had a cherry hops beer,” he said.

Resourceful, Julien. Good call.

Crews will be erecting the rest of the rides today and prepping their game booths.

“Tomorrow, we’ll get cranking,” he said.

Mr. Reliable - Matt Larsen with Discover Rentals was also working his magic at the entrance to downtown Cherry Fest activities on Thursday morning, April 21.
