Bountiful Blessings Giving Closet – An Event on Sunday, June 28th

The Dalles, Ore., June 25, 2026 — A friend of mine recently walked into what looked like an ordinary thrift store in The Dalles. There’s no big sign, just the name on the front door on Washington Street, between second and third. He found a pair of pants he liked, but no price tag. He asked a volunteer, “How much are these?”
“Free! Everything in our store is free.”
It’s hard to believe, but it’s true. This store offers clothing and shoes for all ages, kids’ toys, household items, kitchen equipment, and some furniture. This place is a community-centered grassroots movement, founded in The Dalles. The volunteers are here to bless, to listen, to touch people’s hearts, and to make neighbors feel that they are cared for. BBGC is about neighbors helping neighbors, families helping families in need, and communities being there for one another through life’s ups and downs.
Two friends wanted to fill a gap by offering goods to people at no cost. No application, no questions. Just come in, find what you need, and it’s yours. When a salesperson at St Vinnies ’s sees a customer who cannot afford to buy something, they send them here, where everything is FREE.
John said he has several bags of stuff to donate. Me too. We can give freely and know that we are doing something good for our community. Generosity is a key to happiness. BBGC makes it easy for us to share. This is a rare win-win.
To celebrate being in business for a year, as well as raise funds to cover overhead expenses, purchase needed items such as shelves, and to update their very outdated laptop, they are putting on a fashion show at The Dalles Senior Center. Local models, our neighbors, will be wearing clothing donated to the Giving Closet.
The Fashion Show is Sunday, June 28th, at The Dalles Senior Center, 1112 W 9th, The Dalles, 2 p.m.- 4 p.m.
Admission is a $10 donation or a non-perishable food donation for their free pantry.
They are always looking for volunteers, even if for a couple of hours a week. Everything helps. This is a feel-good place!
