Braver Angels Columbia Gorge Alliance Celebrates First Year

The Dalles Ore., June 12, 2024 — While the national Braver Angels organization was established in 2016, the Columbia Gorge Alliance of Braver Angels is celebrating its first year of operation in July of 2024. Braver Angels is dedicated to bridging the political divide, holding America together, and preserving our democratic republic.
We gather monthly, rotating our meetings through the four counties we serve: Skamania, Hood River, Klickitat, and Wasco. Our July 2nd meeting will be in The Dalles at the historic Herbring House at 313 West 4th Street.
All meetings are open to the public. Many folks participate in our monthly meetings often, some attend occasionally, and we have first-timers at every gathering.
Meetings run 90 minutes and we spend at least half that time “practicing” civil conversations. There are some obvious techniques for two people with differing opinions to share and learn from each other. All that’s required is a little humility, some sincere curiosity, and a bit of practice. We’re determined that our growing participation will become a very visible example for our politicians at all levels of government.
We’re eager to welcome first-timers at every meeting. And most of us have established new friendships, in addition to broader perspectives.
