The Dalles, Ore., July 8, 2026 — Firefighters from multiple agencies stopped a brush fire in the Mill Creek drainage Wednesday night, keeping the blaze to about one-half acre despite steep terrain and heavy vegetation.
Mid-Columbia Fire & Rescue responded at 9:05 p.m. to the 3000 block of Mill Creek Road with Brush 21, Brush 22, Tender 21 and Chiefs 21 and 22. They were assisted by Dallesport Fire's Brush 631 and a U.S. Forest Service Scenic Area crew.
The fire was burning in steep, brush- and grass-covered terrain, but firefighters, nearby property owners and neighbors worked together to contain the blaze. Crews completed mop-up operations later in the evening, and the area will continue to be patrolled over the next several days.
No injuries or damaged structures were reported.
