The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 26, 2026 — The City of The Dalles Public Works Department has canceled the remaining work for a pavement preservation project on E 13th St. between Washington St. and Union St. due to unfavorable forecasted weather conditions. Paving that was originally scheduled to take place the week of October 26, 2026, has been canceled.

In 2026, City crews installed new ramps throughout the project area ahead of the repaving project. The asphalt cutouts around the new ramps will be hot-patched this year. Some temporary grading was done, and potholes were filled to improve the driving surface until paving can be rescheduled as early as spring 2027, weather permitting.

The City reduced project costs while improving accessible pedestrian connections for residents and visitors by utilizing Public Works crews. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramp improvements will prepare E. 13th Street for full-width paving from Washington to Union Streets in 2027.
