Chenowith Elementary Students Spread Love with Heart Project

Local businesses adorned with heartfelt displays as Chenowith Elementary students celebrate school spirit.

Chenowith Elementary Students Heart Project is on display throughout downtown The Dalles.

The Dalles, Ore., February 16, 2024 — Chenowith Elementary School is spreading love and cheer throughout the community with its annual Hearts Project, a recent annual tradition that allows students to demonstrate and share what love means to them with our community.

Each year students have decorate paper hearts with colorful designs and heartfelt messages, showcasing all the things they love about their school, family, and life. These vibrant hearts are then proudly displayed at various local businesses, transforming them into galleries of affection and school pride.

This year, hearts can be found at several downtown businesses, including Sunflower Vision Care, the Discovery Center, Umpqua Bank, Wasco Electric Coop, the Water District, Wines on 2nd, and Zion Lutheran Church. The community is encouraged to take a stroll through these establishments to admire the beautiful displays and feel the love radiating from the heartfelt creations of Chenowith Elementary students.

The colorful hearts are meant to spread joy, brighten up local businesses and serve as a reminder to spread love and friendship throughout our communities.

The Hearts Project also hope to not only spreads joy and positivity throughout the community but also showcases the importance of fostering a supportive and loving environment within the school.

"We're always so thrilled that businesses are willing to display our students' art and to participate in the Hearts Project," Patti Carillo, Chenowith Elementary. "It's heartwarming to see the enthusiasm and creativity the students pour into their designs. This project truly showcases the special bond our students have with their school."
