Cider, Spiders, and Smiles Spin Fun at The Dalles Public Library

By Joshuah Albert

The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 15, 2025 — There were webs, cider, and plenty of giggles at The Dalles Public Library on Tuesday afternoon as kids and parents came together for “Cider & Spiders,” a fall-themed craft and storytime that celebrated all things creepy-crawly.

Tables were covered with crayons, yarn, and popsicle sticks as young artists built their own spider webs and colored spooky spiders while sipping warm apple cider. Laughter filled the room as families swapped stories, shared snacks, and admired each other’s creations.

After craft time, everyone gathered around for storytime — a cozy circle of eager listeners as library staff read aloud some not-so-scary tales starring spiders big and small. The afternoon wrapped up with a trivia game that tested just how much the kids really knew about their eight-legged friends.

“Cider & Spiders” proved that a dash of imagination and a cup of cider can turn an ordinary Tuesday into a web of fun.
