City of Wasco Seeks Bids for Water Meter Replacement Project

Wasco, Ore., July 30, 2026 — The City of Wasco is seeking bids from qualified contractors for a project to replace residential and commercial water service meters throughout the city.

Sealed bids will be accepted until 4 p.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Wasco City Hall, 1017 Clark St., or by mail at P.O. Box 26, Wasco, OR 97065. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately following the deadline.

The project includes replacing 130 residential water meters and 10 commercial water meters. Contractors will remove existing meters and install new city-supplied meters, pressure-reducing valves and associated components. The project also includes relocating existing backflow prevention devices that share meter boxes and installing up to 35 new city-supplied residential double-check backflow devices and meter boxes where needed.

A nonmandatory pre-bid conference and site walkthrough is scheduled for 10 a.m. Aug. 13 at Wasco City Hall.

Contractors are not required to be prequalified but must provide evidence of their qualifications and experience with their bids. The project is subject to Oregon public contracting laws, including prevailing wage requirements, and contractors must be registered with the Oregon Construction Contractors Board before bids are opened.

Bid documents are available electronically by contacting Cory Brown of Bell Design Company at corybrown@belldesigncompany.com. Printed copies are available for a nonrefundable $35 fee through Bell Design Company in Bingen, Washington.

Questions regarding the project must be submitted to Brown by 5 p.m. Aug. 26.

The successful bidder will be required to provide performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the contract amount, along with the required insurance coverage, within 10 days of receiving the notice of award.
