Man Who Stabbed Roommate Multiple Times is Sentenced for Assault in the 2nd Degree

Statement from Wasco Co DA Matthew Ellis

February 19, 2021

Today, Wasco County District Attorney Matthew Ellis announced that 67-year-old Clay Parsons received a 66-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to assault in the second degree.

The resolution of this case resulted after a judicial settlement conference conducted on February 18, 2021.  Parsons pled guilty and was sentenced the same day.

By pleading guilty, Parsons admitted to causing physical injury to his victim by means of a dangerous or deadly weapon, to wit: a knife.

On December 4, 2020 Mr. Parsons was involved in an altercation with his roommate, which resulted in Parsons stabbing his roommate numerous times.  Mr. Parsons called the police and then fled the scene.  He was later arrested in Ellensburg, WA, where he waived extradition to face charges in Wasco County, Oregon.

The fast actions of The Dalles City Police helped save the victim’s life and brought Mr. Parsons to justice. The district attorney’s office would like to give particular recognition to Detective Sergeant Ell of The Dalles City Police for taking the lead on this matter.

In addition to the prison sentence, the court placed Parsons on 36 months of post-prison supervision.  If he violates conditions put in place by his post-prison supervisor, he could receive further sanctions in the future.
