The community is invited to attend a public gathering at Lewis & Clark Festival Park on Saturday March 26th, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to grieve, mourn, and honor Amanda Harman, a 35-year-old woman from The Dalles, Oregon, who was tragically murdered near Cherry Heights in The Dalles last week.

Jennifer Phipps and Hailey Sorensen, have said they are putting on the event for the sake of Amanda’s family, friends and the public.

“The gathering will be a safe place for everyone to remember Amanda and celebrate her life,” says Phipps and Sorenson on their event page.

While police are still investigating Amanda’s death, it hasn’t stopped the community from searching for answers or from reaching out to support one another, many people who knew Amanda have taken to social media to express their sense of loss.

“Amanda's tragic death has left a deep impact on her community,” says Phipps and Sorenson, “This gathering provides a space for everyone to come together and remember her in a meaningful way. We hope that this event will help her loved ones find comfort during this difficult time.”

There will be a lighting ceremony starting at 8 p.m., followed by a moment of silence. Attendees are welcome to bring candles, flashlights, phones, or any other items to participate in the lighting ceremony.

Attendees are also encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for comfortable seating. Those who wish to share pictures of Amanda or any memories they have of her will also be welcome to do so.

Snacks or drinks will not be provided at the event but attendees are welcome to bring their own or a picnic to share.

Bathrooms will be available, and limited parking will be available on-site.

Weather will not affect the event's date and time, and attendees are welcome to stay as long as they wish.

It is important to note that this event is not Amanda's memorial service. Instead, it has been organized by her community to provide a safe place for her loved ones to come together and honor her memory.

If you have any information regarding Amanda's death, please contact the Wasco County Sheriff's Office by phone or through CIty of The Dalle’s Polices online tip form. You can also text TIP 411 (847-411) with any information.
