Cruise Brings Rampage: $5 a ticket - lucky winner announced Saturday

Cruise Brings Rampage: $5 a ticket - lucky winner announced Saturday

Anson Jones, 17, of The Dalles was all thumbs up this afternoon out front of Burgerville in downtown The Dalles. He and his dad Dennis are raffling this 84 Dodge Rampage for $5 a ticket. Anson said the proceeds will go to The Dalles Lions, who work to assist children with vision problems.

Anson said the Rampage had a 2.2 liter inline four-cylinder with a transverse transmission, giving the Rampage front-wheel-drive burnouts. The ticket will be drawn at the Show in the Shade car show at Sorosis Park on Saturday, Aug. 12.

Dozens of vehicles have already shown up in The Dalles ready to cruise the gut and pop the hood for the 30th Annual Cruise the Gorge. Cruisers are already on the street, but the Neon Cruise will hit its apex in just a few hours.

But wait, there’s more.

Join The Dalles Eagles/Elks Lodge for a Cruise Night After Show on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 5-7 p.m. Cars will be parked on the grass and enjoy food, drinks and music on the patio. No entry fee.

Here’s a taste of whats to come.

This 1953 Studebaker, below, was a real head-turner this afternoon. It had car seats that said Studecuda - our guess is because the rear design of the vehicle is very Dodge Barracudaesque. Paperwork in the vehicle said the model was a Starlight, and it contained a 4.4-liter engine that could produce 500 horsepower. Stock?
