Resourceful use of Resources
David Glenn used his STIHL 170 chainsaw, his bike and trailer to do a little logging along West Sixth Street this morning, Thursday, Jan. 7. Glenn, 55, said the work helps keep the drainage ditch clean and provides him some warmth in the winter while living downtown. He bought the chainsaw at Sawyers True Value and the bike trailer came from St. Vincent de Paul for $13. He was able to cut a couple of pieces of locust- prickly work. The dense yellow-colored wood provides good heat if you can put up with the pungent smell. Not much for cooking. Glenn said you could buy a truckload of cherry wood for $70, but he preferred buying the chainsaw and cutting his own.
