Diversify’s Whitewater Kayak Progression Program Makes a Splash for a 3rd Summer

From Diversify Whitewater:

The Dalles, Ore., April 24, 2026 — Applications are now open for this summer’s Kayak Progression Program in the Columbia River Gorge from Diversify Whitewater. For the third year in a row, participants will learn the 101s of whitewater kayaking in a hardshell over the length of six weeks.

The entire program is free — no prior experience is needed, no personal equipment is required as all gear, boats, and instruction are provided.

Throughout August and September, selected participants will take part in a series of river trips and flatwater skill sessions designed to build a foundation in whitewater kayaking. Beyond paddling techniques, participants will also gain familiarity with local rivers such as the Klickitat, White Salmon, and Clackamas, and connect with other paddlers in the Gorge.

Applicants living in White Salmon, Hood River, Portland, Vancouver, and surrounding areas are encouraged to apply online by May 15. Priority will be given to those able to attend all sessions and interested in continuing to paddle after the program.

Dates:

River Days: (All Day) July 25th & 26th, Aug 9th, Aug 15th & 16th

Flat Water Roll Practice Evenings: (6-7:30) July 28th, Aug 4th and Aug 11th

Final Event for All Cohorts: (All day + Camping Available) Aug 15th in the Columbia River Gorge
