Downey Sleep Center Donates 50 Mattresses to Rowena Fire Victims
By Joshuah Albert
The Dalles, Ore., Oct. 24, 2025 — Dozens of families displaced by the Rowena wildfire are getting a better night’s sleep thanks to a local business and community partnership.
Downey Sleep Center, with stores in The Dalles and Hood River, donated more than 50 brand-new Sealy mattresses to Mid-Columbia Community Action Council (MCCAC) for distribution to residents affected by the fire.
The mattresses — available in queen, full and twin sizes — are being provided free of charge to verified fire victims through The Gloria Center in The Dalles. MCCAC is coordinating the program to ensure every eligible household can receive one.
Mattresses are available by appointment only, and proof of residency in the fire-affected area is required.
For more information or to schedule a pickup, contact The Gloria Center at 541-298-5131 or info@mccac.com.
