Dufur Baseball Producing College Level Athletes

Dufur baseball continues to produce college-level talent in recent years and this upcoming year is no different. Led by seniors Carson Smith, Gabe Petroff, Brock LaFavre, and Isaac Anthony, the Rangers are hoping for big things in the upcoming season.

The four boys that lead the team are wanting to become college athletes in baseball and have the talent to do it. They work on their craft in the summer playing different summer leagues, whether it’s Hustler in The Dalles or something bigger like Baseball Factory. The boys are talented and showing out for college scouts.
Carson is playing for Baseball Factory, which is a United States company specializing in player development and college placement of high school baseball players.
Isaac and Gabe are playing for Hustlers in The Dalles under coach Steve Sugg. The Hustlers have done really well this summer and Isaac and Gabe are a big part of that. Brock decided to work this summer but best believe he’ll be ready for the upcoming baseball season.
When I got the chance to interview Carson we just had a quick chat about his goals for the upcoming season.
“I’d say season goal is to have fun and try and win the state championship. Our freshman year we were eliminated in the first round. My sophomore year we didn’t have a season due to COVID and this last year (junior year) we got eliminated in the second round, which was hard for us because we were ahead the whole game until the end. But I’d say the main goal is for us to win the state championship and have fun while doing it.”
I then asked what the Baseball factory was and he said “ Baseball Factory is basically just a recruiting type of thing. There aren’t really any practices. You just show up to camps and play games with a team you’re put on. They video you doing some things and have college scouts at each camp. It basically is a big recruitment program. We then have tournaments in different states and play. My next one is September 2nd in Florida.”
The future looks bright for Dufur in this upcoming season. These 4 athletes lead them and have a great team behind them.
