The Dalles, Ore., April 17, 2026 — Families and gardeners of all experience levels are invited to celebrate Earth Day with a hands-on community event hosted by the Wasco County Master Gardeners at Columbia Gorge Community College.

The free event, set for Wednesday, April 22, offers residents a chance to pick up seeds, get expert gardening advice and engage kids in outdoor-themed crafts — all aimed at encouraging local food growing and sustainable practices.

Organizers say the event is designed to make gardening more accessible while helping residents connect with local resources and build confidence in growing their own food, something that can save money and strengthen community resilience.

The event will run from 5 to 7 p.m. at Columbia Gorge Community College, 400 E. Scenic Drive, Building 2, Floor 2, in The Dalles.

Attendees can choose from a variety of free seeds during the giveaway and speak directly with Master Gardeners through an “Ask-a-Master-Gardener” station, where volunteers will offer personalized advice on gardening challenges.

Families are also encouraged to bring children, as the event will include free gardening-themed crafts designed to introduce younger participants to planting and sustainability.

The event is free and open to the public.
