Elfing Elks kick off season of giving

From Washington Gorge Action Programs:

By Tamara Kaufman

White Salmon, WA. November 1, 2023 - Spreading holiday cheer is top of mind for Cheri Michaelson and Miki Caldwell of the "Elfing Elks," a group of ladies, members, spouses, and community members supporting the Mt. Adams Elks Lodge #1868 in White Salmon.

The group has kicked off the season of giving by donating handmade hats and scarves to Washington Gorge Action Programs for neighbors in need. The annual tradition was supported this year by a national Elks Lodge grant the group received to purchase the yarn needed to knit the winter wear.

On hand from WAGAP to receive the gifts were Janeal Booren, the Nutrition Programs director, and Leslie Naramore, executive director. The hats and scarves will be distributed across the WAGAP Food Bank Network sites in Klickitat and Skamania counties and shared through the Mobile Food Bank. Booren and Naramore expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Elks for this meaningful donation.

Other ongoing seasonal programs are also getting started now at WAGAP, such as Coats for Kids, Winter Warmth Service Project, and the Tree of Joy. To learn more about how to participate in these programs, call (509) 493-2662 or email info@wagap.org.
