Festival of Trees Brings Holiday Cheer, Supports Local Healthcare

Festival of Trees Brings Holiday Cheer, Supports Local Healthcare

By Joshuah Albert

The Dalles, Ore., Dec. 9, 2024  — The annual Festival of Trees lit up The Dalles Civic Auditorium on the evening of Dec. 6, raising thousands of dollars in funds for local healthcare through an auction of beautifully decorated Christmas trees.

Gorgeous handcrafted and themed trees drew hundreds to the Adventist Health event during the auction and the public viewing the following day, Dec. 7.

And all that fun added up to thousands of dollars in donations for helping people battling cancer.

Congratulations to the 2024 Festival of Trees People’s Choice Award Winner Home Alone, donated by Pray Electric! Photo and information from Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation on Facebook.

Proceeds benefit the Celilo Cancer Center Patient Assistance Fund, providing items such as fuel for vehicles, gift cards, and wigs for cancer patients who have lost their hair during chemotherapy treatments. It also supports upgrades to hospital equipment, including sterilization systems.

Trees purchased at the event could be kept or donated to local facilities like the Oregon Veteran’s Home and Wasco County Public Library.

“We’re grateful for the community’s support,” said Amanda Evans, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation Director. “This event brings hope to patients and families in need.”

The evening included a silent auction and the coveted People’s Choice Award for favorite tree, with sponsorship from local businesses such as First Interstate Bank, Toyota, and Umpqua Bank.
