Fire can't stop Arturo; Jewelry Repairman reopens on Fourth in TD

Arturo Dominguez of Arturo’s Jewelry repair has restarted his business at 409 Lincoln Street next to St. Peter’s Landmark. His shop is on the second floor. Dominguez was burned out of his last establishment in May.

Editor’s note - Full disclosure -  Arturo’s new location is within the CCCNews building, and our second company American Pinto LLC benefits from his renting the space. However, we would have written this story either way, given Arturo’s grit and determination to restart his business. And, I find it especially uplifting to see the help he has received from the local community so that he could get restarted.

Arturo Dominguez is back.

The jewelry maker and repairman has been recovering for several months since a fire burned his last shop at 1002 West Sixth Street near Safeway last spring. His shop was across the street from The ReStore.

An outpouring of help from family and friends has helped him reset as he was determined to continue his services in The Dalles. He offers jewelry and watch repair. He also creates his own jewelry and is in the market to purchase gold and silver. He can make rings, wedding rings, necklaces, and pendants. He even fixes glasses.

“I want to thank everyone who has helped me,” he said from his new space on Monday, Oct. 10th.

Dominguez has reset his shop on the second floor of the CCCNews building, 409 Lincoln Street next to St. Peter’s Landmark.

Arturo always kept his head up after the fire back in May that destroyed some of his tools and inventory.

He has been doing repairs and making jewelry since 2009 in The Dalles.

“Nothing is salvageable,” he said at the time as he went through boxes of tools back on May 11. “I worked as a cook for 20 years to buy these tools. I’ve been working my whole life for this.”

But with the help from our community, he is happily getting back on track at his new location.

You can reach Arturo at 541-705-7262. He is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
