UPDATE on TD House Fire Old Dufur Road: Fundraiser created to help family
By Joshuah Albert
The Dalles, Ore., June 12, 2025 — Fire crews responded to a house fire at 2531 Old Dufur Road late Thursday morning, where smoke and flames prompted a large emergency presence and road closures in the area.
Two adults and one baby and their pets were able to escape the burning house without injury.
The call came in around 11 a.m., and multiple engines from Mid-Columbia Fire and Rescue quickly arrived on the scene. Firefighters worked to suppress flames that had engulfed part of the single-story residence. The house was still standing as of noon, and the blaze appeared to be under control, with crews continuing to monitor hot spots and secure the structure.
Thick smoke was visible from blocks away, and nearby roads were temporarily closed as emergency vehicles and utility crews staged at the scene. Firefighters in full gear used multiple hoses and ladders to access the building while police and public works personnel assisted with crowd and traffic control.
A police officer at the scene said the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The residents had reportedly purchased the home about a month ago, but no further details about the occupants were available at press time. It was not immediately clear if anyone was home when the fire broke out or if there were any injuries.
A GoFundMe for Jennifer Phipps-Carabantes and here family has been established.
Lily Eby is organizing this fundraiser.
“Hello! We are raising funds due to a house fire that occurred this morning at our duplex. Thankfully, everyone made it out safe along with our pets.
Pretty much a total loss of our belongings.
My mom, Jennifer Phipps, my stepdad, Anthony Phipps, my sister, Peyton, my daughter, Imani (11 months), my husband, Ivan Carabantes, myself (Lily Carabantes), and our pets all just moved in here a month ago.
We need help getting back on our feet to cover expenses for our belongings that were lost. We appreciate anyone who chooses to donate!”
This is a developing story, and more information will be published as it becomes available.
