The Dalles, Ore., July 10, 2026 — Drivers should expect temporary road closures across The Dalles beginning Monday, July 20, as the city continues its 2026 Pavement Preservation Program with the application of fog seal to streets that received chip seal treatment last month.

Work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day, with short-duration closures and detours in place while crews and contractors complete the project. The city said the work is expected to extend the life of recently treated roadways and improve the longevity of the pavement.

Fog seal is a diluted asphalt emulsion sprayed over the pavement surface to protect and preserve chip seal and scrub seal treatments. According to the city, the process has been shown to extend the service life of those treatments and the underlying pavement structure.
