Kommuna Lux enters a new era with a renewed lineup and an even more urgent artistic mission — to carry the living spirit of Ukrainian culture through music that uplifts, unites, and endures. Rooted in the vibrant port city of Odesa, Kommuna Lux steps confidently into a bold new chapter of its artistic journey. At its core remain two defining voices of the band’s signature sound: bandleader and virtuosic clarinetist Volodymyr Gitin, and trombonist Serhii Zhuravel — whose dynamic interplay continues to shape the ensemble’s unmistakable musical identity. They are now joined by a new generation of musicians: Taras Luka (accordion), Mykola Shevelov (drums), and Yevhenii Beltiukov (vocals, guitar). Together, this renewed lineup transforms Kommuna Lux into a reimagined collective — one that honors its deep-rooted heritage while embracing evolution, new textures, and an expanded sonic palette. No longer confined to the definition of a traditional folk group, Kommuna Lux emerges as a genre-fluid force — seamlessly blending Ukrainian folk traditions with klezmer, Balkan swing, and contemporary influences into a sound that is both deeply rooted and globally resonant. Their performances pulse with infectious rhythm, fearless improvisation, and emotional intensity — at once celebratory, theatrical, and profoundly moving.

There’s something about Marty O’Reilly’s music that feels like it’s always been here—like an old story being told in a new way. His voice is raw and real, his guitar playing gritty and soulful. It’s music that doesn’t try to be anything other than honest, and that’s exactly why it hits so hard.
He pulls inspiration from the roots of Americana; his sound references folk greats like Woody Guthrie, blues legends like Howlin’ Wolf, gospel pioneers like Sister Rosetta Thorpe, and master storytellers like Tom Waits. It’s a sound that captivates and connects audiences, and leaves them wanting more. His live shows aren’t just concerts—they’re cathartic experiences. One moment it’s soft and haunting, the next it’s wild and electric. The kind that stay with you long after the lights come up.
