Gun pulled in driving disagreement
The Dalles, Ore., Aug. 4, 2023 - A local man called in a report of having a gun pulled on him after he attempted to contact the driver at Third and Washington Streets in The Dalles on Aug. 3, according to The Dalles Police log.
The conflict occurred around 3 p.m. on Thursday, the log states.
The man reporting the incident said a red Dodge pickup with a flatbed and tools on the back cut him off on Washington Street and so he followed the Dodge to Third and Washington streets where he stopped at the red light. Only a partial description of the license plate was given.
The man told dispatchers that he got out of his vehicle and approached the driver of the Dodge. When he reached the truck, he could see the driver, a man with brown hair, pointing a gun in his direction. Even so, the complainant reported that he asked the driver why he cut him off but he could not understand the response.
The driver shook the gun at about a 45-degree angle,” the police log states. …”he (the man who approached the Dodge) told dispatchers he feared for his life “but stayed there due to feeling confident he could knock the guy out if the gun was pointed back at him.”
The man was advised not to engage if a traffic infraction occurs and to call the police in order to avoid situations like this.
