I-84 Wrong Way Driver east of TD sends authorities scrambling, no injuries, one arrest
A wrong-way driver on Interstate 84 just 10 miles east of The Dalles sent police into action this morning, May 11, according to the Wasco County Sheriff’s Log.
The driver was reported driving westbound in the eastbound lanes at 4:11 a.m. The log states that the vehicle was traveling at 40 to 45 miles per hour.
Police were able to stop the driver at 4:27 a.m. and there was no report of crashes or injuries.
The log notes a language barrier in regard to the driver who reportedly admitted to driving the wrong way.
“DRIVER ADMITTED DRIVING WRONG WAY THAT'S WHY HE WAS PULLED OVER FACING WRONG WAY,” The log states.
The Driver of the vehicle was booked at NORCOR jail in The Dalles where a blood-alcohol content test or BAC was administered to him. His BAC showed .20 - more than twice the legal limit. Drunk driving starts at a BAC of .08.
