Incumbents have a good night in Wasco County polls
Donald Trump edged Joe Biden in the race for President in Wasco County unofficial election results.
Trump took 6,575 votes while Biden grabbed 6,211.
Statewide, Biden had received 58.25 percent of the vote to Trump’s 39.03 percent.
In the race for US Senator, Democrat Jeff Merkley received 6,313 votes and Republican Jo Rae Perkins, 6,158 in Wasco County. Statewide, Merkley had 58.63 percent and Perkins, 38.05 percent.
In the open seat left by Greg Walden, Republican Cliff Bentz captured 6,962 votes for US Representative 2nd District. Democrat Alex Spenser took 5,336. Statewide, Bentz had 59.08 percent of the vote and Spenser, 38.01 percent
In the race for State Representative 59th District, incumbent Republican Daniel Bonham garnered 6,185 votes to Democrat Arlene Burns 5,169. Statewide Bonham had 58.85 percent of the vote and Burns, 41.02 percent.
Locals also were passing all four statewide measures along with the rest of the state by large margins.
Those laws will tax tobacco and e-cigarette products, allow the use of psilocybin mushrooms in licensed facilities, limit campaign contributions, and reclassify certain controlled substances while providing statewide addiction/recovery services.
Voters returned 13,958 ballots in Wasco County of the total 18,180 total sent. That’s a 76.8 percent voter turnout.
