Kiwanis meetings are held every Thursday at noon at Spooky’s, and visitors are welcome. This week’s events include:

— May 1 Kiwanian Steve Carlson shares video of his daughter’s week at Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp.

— May 8 Rita Squires presents the Library Summer Reading program.

— May 15 Ramona Harwood's Col. Wright Elementary School marimba band brings music to Kiwanians.

— May 22 the club hears from Sarah Kellems re: Mid-Columbia Community Action Council.

— May 29 Kiwanians meet with TDHS-sponsored Key Club for a social.

Karl Vercouteren

Karl Vercouteren came to The Dalles in 1977 to become pastor of United Church of Christ Congregational. Early on he joined Cascade Singers and the Original Courthouse board, reflecting life-long interests in music and history. Since retirement in 2008 he has taken on several projects writing about local history.
