Eleven-year-old Tavin Smith is a hustler in a good lemonade, hot chocolate kind of way.

He and his sister, Sydney, offer beverages and good conversation near their home.

CCCNews caught Tavin at the corner of Oregon and 14th streets in The Dalles. We were a bit parched.

“We’ve done this six times,” Tavin said on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 4th, a cool pitcher of yellow refreshment at his side.

Tavin explained that their lemonade was special because they added real lemons and just a touch of sugar to balance the sweet and the tart.

“We had two stands in the winter. We sold hot chocolate and apple cider,” he said, noting we should look for them in the future.

And Sydney is big on the cookies. The 9-year-old likes to make her own in her mom’s kitchen.

“I made $22 yesterday,” Tavin said.

Mother, Michelle Smith, said it was great her kids were doing the things kids should be doing in the summer instead of being inside.

“It’s nice to see them act independently,” she said.
